Free hands-on projects for youngsters are offered the first Saturday of the month at participating Home Depot stores. Register on the Home Depot website. Participants receive a Kids Workshop apron and keep their projects. The activities are designed for youngsters ages 5 to 12.
The all-free, all-fabulous Jacksonville Jazz Festival begins this Friday, May 24 and goes through Sunday, May 26, with live performances on multiple stages downtown, including sets by the Yellowjackets, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Trombone Shorty. The Fifth Annual Pink Ribbon Symposium for breast cancer awareness is Saturday, October 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront in Jacksonville, with educational exhibits, vendors, and a presentation by cancer survivor and Olympic champion Peggy Fleming.
