Riverside Arts Market celebrates Kids Day Saturday, June 7. Attractions include a Kids Creativity Corner, plus balloon artists, jugglers, face painters and other live entertainment. The market–with many vendors and a juried art show–is bustling every Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. Come out to the plaza under the Fuller Warren Bridge for performers, crafts, artists, gourmet packaged foods, a green market and onsite refreshments. The free fun goes on until 4 p.m.
Too hot to hang outdoors? Take the kids to the Museum of Science and History (MOSH) on July 4 for only $4. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and after, the staff will be hosting a range of science experiments at Friendship Fountain Park.
Yes You Canvas is teaming up with Chick-fil-a on June 4 for a special painting-and-dining session. Pay $30 for a meal of chicken, fries and a drink plus a 90-minute painting session that ends with you getting your own guided artwork. The session (regularly priced at $35) begins with dinner at 5:30 and painting starting at 6 p.m. at the restaurant near the Avenues Mall, 9980 Southside Blvd. Adults, teens and kids are welcome to participate.
Put on your pirate gear–or just tuck a napkin around your chin. The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival goes on today, tomorrow May 4 and Sunday May 5 in downtown Fernandina Beach. The annual crustacean celebration offers plenty to do and plenty to eat at the Amelia riverfront, including shrimp in every possible culinary incarnation, a kids entertainment area, educational exhibits, tours, arts and crafts and live music. Admission to the street fair and entertainment is all free, but you’ll want to bring a few dollars to splurge on a shrimp feast.
Regal Theaters is bringing back kid-friendly summer movies for a dollar. Dollar movies at the Regal on Beach Blvd. or at the Avenues play on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. The lineup for June is:
